Troubleshooting on the Steam Platform
X-Plane 11 is available on the Steam platform. The X-Plane product from Steam is identical to other home versions of X-Plane. As a result of this, most support advise is identical for the Steam version of X-Plane. We have outline a few exceptions to this below.
X-Plane Will Not Start
If you are using X-Plane on Steam, and you're experiencing crashes or problems updating – you need to verify the Steam files of X-Plane. Here are some steps for this!
- Open the Steam client application.
- Move to the Library tab on Steam.
- Right click on X-Plane 11.
- Choose Properties.
- Move to the "Local Files".
- Click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files".
X-Plane Requests a Product Key
When you purchase X-Plane 11 on the Steam Platform, you do not receive a Product Key for the app. Your purchase/license information is stored and administered by Steam. If the X-Plane app ever asks you for a Product Key, following the file verification steps above will resolve this.
