Intel GPU Drivers
Making sure that your Intel graphics card has the latest drivers available can be difficult. Here are some steps to ensure that you are up to date and ready to use X-Plane.
Note: X-Plane is only compatible with Intel GPUs that accompany Intel Generation 3 CPUs and newer.
- First identify which Intel CPU you have in your computer. The easiest way to do this is by opening the "Log.txt" file in the main X-Plane folder. The CPU will be listed at the top of this document under the header: CPU type.
- Next, identify which generation your CPU comes from using the iX-Ynnn format - Y = Generation. i.e. a i7-7700 is a 7th generation CPU.
- Once you have established which generation your CPU is from, visit this page on the Intel website that lists the most recent drivers for each Intel GPU.
- Here you can select which generation of CPU you have by clicking on the Products menu.
- Choose the generation of your CPU.
- Next, you will need to return to your Log.txt file to retrieve the version of your OpenGL Driver. This information will be found below the CPU information in the Log.txt file.
- The important fact here is the version (build) number: 26.20.100.6859. If that number is different than the version number shown on the Intel website, this driver is out of date.
- If this test shows that your driver is out of date, you will need to follow the instructions on the Intel website to update your driver.
