Joystick and Keyboard Profiles in X-Plane 11

X-Plane offers customizable profiles for joystick and keyboard configurations. Watch the video below or scroll down for more information about how to set up and manage joystick and keyboard profiles.

Create a New Profile

Click the Active Profile drop-down menu.

Pick "Save as New Profile" and give it a name you'll remember.

At this point, you can make any changes you like, and they'll save to this new profile automatically.

Delete Profiles and Assign Profiles to Aircraft Groups/ Individual Aircraft

Click the Manage Profiles button next to the Active Profiles drop-down.

Profiles can be managed in the left side of this window. Click on the minus (-) sign next to a profile name to delete it, or double-click on a profile name to edit it.

Assign your profiles in the column on the right side of the window. You can use the search bar or the expand/collapse buttons next to the aircraft types to narrow down your aircraft list.

By clicking on the drop-down next to an aircraft type, you can assign a profile to all aircraft of that type. Or you can click on the drop-down next to an individual aircraft to change individual profile assignments. Profiles will be automatically assigned when you switch from one profile to another while a flight is in progress. So you never have to manually assign aircraft associations if you don't want to. You'll just get whatever you were losing last.

Keyboard Settings

These processes are the same for keyboard settings. The active profile and manage profile buttons are right where you would expect. Remember that joystick and keyboard profiles are saved together under the same profile name.

Our Manual
