Using Networked Multiplayer, External Visuals & Apps

Check out this video for a helpful visual overview of X-Plane's networked features, like multiplayer mode, external visuals machines, and external apps.

Networked Multiplayer

To use X‑Plane 11’s built-in networked multiplayer, you will first need all the computers on the same network, each running their own copy of the most recent X‑Plane update.

See this section of our manual for more information.

External Visuals

To set up a multi-computer simulator, each of the computers you want to use must first be linked together over a network. For the most reliable connection, join the computers together with Ethernet cables, or you can connect over a Wi-Fi network. The computers should form a simple LAN, configured as normal within Mac OS X or Windows, whatever the case may be. The most recent version of X‑Plane should then be launched on each computer.

See this section of our manual for more information.

External Apps

There are numerous apps available that can enhance flying in X-Plane. As long as the device is running on the same local network as the computer running X-Plane, you can set up their connection in the Network tab of the Settings screen.

See this section of our manual for more information.
