Sharing files with X-Plane Support

Occasionally a file necessary for debugging X-Plane is too large to send via email. In these cases, X-Plane Support will ask that you use Google Drive or Dropbox to send this file. Here are some instructions on this!

Google Drive

If you have a Gmail account, that means that you also have access to Google Drive, Google's cloud storage service. In case you are not yet a member, signing up is free!

  1. First, identify the file that X-Plane Support has requested from you. For this example, I will use the Log.txt file.
  2. Open drive.google.com
  3. Click the New button in the upper left of the screen.
  4. Choose the Log.txt file and upload it to Google Drive.
  5. Once this upload is complete, find it in the My Drive folder and double click on it.
  6. Next, click the three vertical dots in the upper right.
  7. Select Share and then click Change to Anyone with Link.
  8. Now you can copy the link that Google Drive provides and send it to X-Plane Support.

Dropbox

On Dropbox, this process is even easier.

  1. Open the Dropbox desktop app.
  2. Drag + Drop the file into this app window.
  3. Right click on the file that you would like to share and click Share.
  4. Next, click Create Link at the bottom of the Share pop-up.
  5. Finally, click the Copy Link button and send that to X-Plane Support.
