Sharing files with X-Plane Support
Occasionally a file necessary for debugging X-Plane is too large to send via email. In these cases, X-Plane Support will ask that you use Google Drive or Dropbox to send this file. Here are some instructions on this!
Google Drive
If you have a Gmail account, that means that you also have access to Google Drive, Google's cloud storage service. In case you are not yet a member, signing up is free!
- First, identify the file that X-Plane Support has requested from you. For this example, I will use the Log.txt file.
- Open drive.google.com
- Click the New button in the upper left of the screen.
- Choose the Log.txt file and upload it to Google Drive.
- Once this upload is complete, find it in the My Drive folder and double click on it.
- Next, click the three vertical dots in the upper right.
- Select Share and then click Change to Anyone with Link.
- Now you can copy the link that Google Drive provides and send it to X-Plane Support.
Dropbox
On Dropbox, this process is even easier.
- Open the Dropbox desktop app.
- Drag + Drop the file into this app window.
- Right click on the file that you would like to share and click Share.
- Next, click Create Link at the bottom of the Share pop-up.
- Finally, click the Copy Link button and send that to X-Plane Support.
